NVIAS held our second quarterly meeting on Wednesday June 15 in Port Alice. It was hosted by Susan Mohler at Seaside Studio & Gallery. Prior to the meeting we had a workshop led by Patricia Wilson.
We made mandalas using Yuppo paper and fluid acrylics. The plastic like finish of the paper coated in a circular wash of GAC 100 helped the paint slide about making magical designs.
As the paint gradually settled and began to dry, more paint was added to embellish the mandala.
It was impossible to stop the fun, so it continued throughout the meeting portion of our time together. It was only food that stopped the paint brushes. The soul was nourished and the pot luck fed the body.
Susan took us on a tour of her studio. Susan’s work in stained glass is striking and very beautiful. In fact, Susan’s love of art can be seen throughout her home. During our visit, we enjoyed her collection of art work. Afterwards we also had the opportunity to tour Dan Nordin’s oceanfront Artist Gallery a few doors away….
